Jane Alspaugh-Pre-Kindergarten
Jane Alspaugh is the Pre-K teacher at Calvary. This is Mrs. Alspaugh’s third year as a teacher at Calvary. She has, however, taught in public schools for twenty-six years. She has a Master’s in Early Childhood and a certification in ESL (English As A Second Language). Mrs. Alspaugh is a native Houstonian. She has two grown sons. She has three dogs and four parrots. She loves all kinds of animals! Mrs. Alspaugh’s teaching experience includes teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten in Houston ISD, Spring Branch ISD, Alief ISD, and Lamar ISD. She also worked with Lamar’s Project Learn, an evening language-based program for parents and children who are not fluent in English. She loves teaching at Calvary most of all!
Mary Lou Baughman-1st Grade Language Arts
Mary Lou Baughman is the first grade language arts teacher at Calvary. This is Mrs. Baughman’s fifth year as a teacher at Calvary; however, she has been associated with the school for many years as a Calvary parent. Ms. Baughman’s family moved from Shreveport, Louisiana to Richmond in 1992. She and her husband, Chris, have four children…one of whom attends Calvary. Their third son graduated from Calvary this past year and now attends Austin High School. Their two oldest sons are both in college. The Baughman family also has two beautiful poodles named Ellie and Sophie. Ms. Baughman’s teaching experience includes thirteen years in public schools, where she taught pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade. Additionally, she taught two years in a lab school which included teaching a program planning course to Elementary Education majors.
Debbie Buettner-Kindergarten
Debbie Buettner is a kindergarten teacher at CES, with 30 plus years of teaching experience. She is a native Texan and joined the Calvary family in 2002. She has a B.S. in elementary education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from East Texas State University. Her teaching and counseling experience includes both public and private schools.
Sarah Bye-3rd Grade-Math, Sci., SS
Mrs. Bye is our third grade Math, Science and Social Studies teachers. She joined our staff in November, 2005 as our Third Grade Language Arts teacher. Mrs. Bye has been in education for over 30 years and has taught second and third grades. Before retiring from public education, Mrs. Bye supported mathematics instruction at elementary campuses in the Katy Independent School District as a Curriculum Specialist. She has presented workshops for The Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics and also taught the Texas Math Initiative Math Academy, TEXTEAMS Workshops, grades 3-5 and conducted workshops for district staff development. Mrs. Bye facilitated the formation and work of the Mathematics Vertical Teams for the Katy District and provided direction for the writing and aligning of the elementary math curriculum.

Mrs. Bye holds a BS Degree from Indiana University and a Masters Degree from the University of Houston. She began her teaching career in Chicago and continued teaching after moving to Texas in 1979.

Mrs. Bye is a life member of the Texas PTA and was the Elementary Teacher of the Year, 1994 at Nottingham Country Elementary, KISD. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, Association of Texas Professional Educators, the Professional Tour Group Association of Houston and Katy Area Retired Educators.

Mrs. Bye and her husband, Jerry, are the parents of two grown children, Mario and Tasha. Also, they are the proud grandparents of four wonderful grandchildren, Karlie, Konnor, Kennedy and Karson.
Patsy Chapa-Lower School Spanish and Music
Patsy Chapa is the pre-k music teacher and pre-k aid. She also teaches lower school Spanish. She has been at Calvary for ten years. She was with the Lamar District for eight years and Living Water Christian School for one year.

Ms. Chapa was born in Santa Fe N.M. Her family includes her husband, who is a self-employed mechanic, her two children and two grandchildren. She says there’s no greater joy than to be a grandma!

Ms. Chapa has discovered a lot of talent in her classes as she uses music to teach the concepts presented in her classes. The children love the songs and it makes it more comfortable to speak another language through music and games.
Lisa Childress-CECP and Dance
Lisa Childress is a part time CECP teacher at Calvary. At Calvary she works with the students on leadership classes, Pals, Student Council and Speech. This is her 21st year in education. She spent 12 years in the classroom at Kempner HS as a Speech, Dance, Student Council, Cheerleading teacher. After teaching, Ms. Chilress worked as a Safe School facilitator for five years in FBISD. In 2004 she decided to spend time at home with her daughter Elyssa. While taking the time off she started a company, Parents for Healthy Students. Her company consults with school districts, churches and parent groups. She teaches all types of prevention in alcohol, drugs, bullying, violence and abstinence. Her mission in life is for every child to go through adolescence healthy and happy so they can focus on learning. She lives in Greatwood with her husband Matthew and daughter Elyssa.
Jalon Debbs, Coach
Coach Jalon Debbs is a graduate of San Diego State University (San Diego, CA) as a Student/Athlete scholar in 1990 with a BS Industrial Engineering. He currently is a project controls engineer for various research and development projects for Shell Oil Company. His passion is running a mentoring program for student/athletes (boy's and girl's) that prepares them for college. He splits his time coaching and being a spokesman for Adidas grassroots basketball programs across the country. He's a parent, husband, board member and a dedicated coach.
Jan Dennison-Art
Jan Dennison is the lower and middle school art teacher at CES. She was born and raised in Ohio earning Artist of the Year two years in high school. She attended on full scholarship and graduated from The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. While at O.S.U. Ms. Dennison also studied art history, drawing, and sculpture. After college Ms. Dennison worked as an engineer for a major electronics company manufacturing fixed resistors for the computer industry. She left to raise a family and enjoyed doing free-lance art work for the church, school and community and has taken post graduate courses at the University of Houston in art education. Ms. Dennison has resided in Pecan Grove for 28 years and lives with Mike, her husband of 31 years, and daughter Jacqueline, a junior at Denison University in Ohio studying creative writing. Her son Matthew is a second year surgical resident at the Michael DeBakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, and her daughter Jennifer just completed her Music Performance Master’s degree at Moores School of Music, University of Houston. This is her tenth year at Calvary.
Kathy Digoy – Middle School School Librarian and Media Specialist
Kathy Digoy is our middle school librarian. She was born and raised in California but has called Houston her home for the past five years after living six years in Ecuador. She has taught 4th and 5th grades here at Calvary. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and received her teaching certification from ACT Houston. Mrs. Digoy brings to Calvary fifteen years of IT experience in various industries such as oil, health management, and video retail. Mrs. Digoy has a son, Matthew, who is a middle school student at Calvary and a daughter, Meagan, who lives in California.

Mrs. Digoy is currently attending Sam Houston State University where she is working on a Library Science Masters Degree. She is extremely excited to be working in a field where she can pass on her passion for books and technology to the students of Calvary.
Faith Duckworth-Music and Choir
Faith Duckworth is the elementary and middle school music teacher. She was born in Pennsylvania but never stayed in one place very long because her family traveled with the Marine Corps for most of her elementary/middle school years. Her high school years were spent in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and after graduating from Gateway High School she attended and graduated from Ambassador University in Big Sandy, Texas. There she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a minor in Music and Elementary Education. Mrs. Duckworth has performed extensively across the United States and Canada. Her background is in vocal performance, dance and drama. Her experience also includes professional recordings, television appearances and dramatic performances in many classic plays and musicals. Her life is happiest when involved in music and teaching children to enjoy and appreciate the many wonderful facets of this art form. Mrs. Duckworth resides in Richmond with her husband, Noel, two daughters Lauren, who is a Freshman at Sam Houston State University studying Criminal Justice & Psychology and MerriAnn, her 8th grade daughter and their two dogs. This is her tenth year at Calvary.
Pat Haley-Middle School Language Arts, Geography
Mrs. Pat Haley teaches sixth grade Language Arts and World Geography at CES. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1969 with a B.S. degree in elementary education with a minor in English and Social Studies. She earned a
M.S. from Prairie View A.& M. University in 1974. She has thirty-eight years of teaching experience with this being her eighth year at Calvary Episcopal School. Mrs. Haley is the adviser for the Calvary Episcopal School Chapter of the National
Junior Honor Society, the coordinator of the National Geographic Bee and the facilitator of the World Bazaar. She and her husband, Robert, moved to Rosenberg in 1969 to teach in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. They raised five children and are proud grandparents of four grandsons. She was named Teacher of the Year at CES last year.
Melissa Hamon-2nd Grade Math, Sci., SS
Melissa Hamon is the second grade math, science and social studies teacher. She is a native Virginian, but grew up in North Carolina and Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a BS in elementary education with a specialty is early childhood education and is certified K-8. Ms. Hamon and her husband, Rob, have lived all over the United States due to Rob's naval career, but finally settled down in Sugar Land in 1998. Ms. Hamon was employed by American Airlines in Washington, DC, Providence, RI and Colorado Springs, CO. She left the airlines shortly before her son, Christopher, was born and stayed home until he was three. She returned to her first career choice of teaching when Christopher started preschool and taught Pre-K and Bridge Kindergarten. When Christopher became a Calvary Crusader, she followed by becoming a room mother, an active volunteer and a substitute teacher. Ms. Hamon has a love for singing and enjoys leading CES students in praise songs in chapel. This is Ms. Hamon’s sixth year at Calvary.
Angela Harris-PK Assistant
Angela Harris is a native of Wharton, TX. She and her husband Robert have three sons, Cryston 15, JaCorey 10, and Sterling 6. Angela and her family belong to Shiloh Baptist Church in Boling, TX. She is very active in her church and also helps out as a table parent at the Logos program at the First United Methodist Church in Wharton. Angela keeps busy with her three boys in the G/T program, baseball and track. Ms Harris graduated from Wharton High school in 1990 and received an Associate in Child Development from Wharton County Junior College in 2002. She is currently attending WCJC and University of Houston/Sugarland to obtain a B.S and Master’s in Education with a certification as an Educational Diagnostician. This is Ms. Harris’ third year at Calvary.
Charlyn Harris - 1st Grade
Charlyn Harris is the 1st grade Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher at Calvary. This will be her first year teaching at Calvary. However, Mrs. Harris recently completed 13 years of teaching in Fort Bend ISD. Her experiences include teaching Kindergarten and 1st grades, Reading Recovery, district science kit trainer, and other various curriculum activities. Mrs. Harris is a native Texan and Houstonian, receiving both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Houston in Elementary Education with an emphasis in the teaching of primary aged students. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and daughter, Delaney and other family members. In addition, Mrs. Harris is an avid reader and scrapbooker. She is looking forward to many wonderful years at Calvary.
Carol Hensley – Teachers Aide and Bible
Carol has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master in Religions Education. Carol and her husband Jimmy retired after 31 years of teaching. She taught first grade for 17 years, second grade for 3 years and third grade for 3 years. The last 8 years she was a Title One teacher for first grade, a Reading specialist for grade 1-3, and an ESL specialist for pre k – 4th grade. After retiring she became a tutor for third and fifth grade and spent one semester as a first grade reading intervention teacher. Carol worked in the office at Calvary during the spring semester of 2007.S he comes from a family of teachers. Her father was a teacher, her husband Jim is a teacher, and their daughter is a teacher. Her son is a marine engineer and the father of their three grandsons with her newest addition a granddaughter born in April 2009.
Jimmy Hensley - Kindergarten-6th Computer Teacher
Mr. Hensley holds a B.S. degree in education and is certified to teach Physical Education, Health, Computer literacy, and secondary Social Science. Mr. Hensley and his wife Carol retired from public schools in 2002 with over 32 years in the classroom.
Mr. Hensley was also a coach for 27 years, junior high and high school. During these years of coaching he coached: Football (all levels), Basketball (all levels), Baseball, and Track.
The last 8 years in public schools he taught computers and worked with classroom teachers integrating lessons for them to use in the labs with their students. Mr. Hensley has been the elementary computer teacher at CES for two years.
Stacy Hodges, RN
Mrs. Stacy Hodges is the school nurse for Calvary Episcopal School. This is her first year joining the Calvary family. Mrs. Hodges has been a registered nurse for 17 years. She has worked 13 years as an emergency room nurse and the last 3 1/2 years were spent as a school nurse on the elementary level for Lamar Consolidated ISD. Mrs. Hodges and her family live in Fulshear and her two children attend Calvary Episcopal School.
Vicki Ikeler, M.Ed., LPC
Ms. Ikeler assumes the role of college and career counselor for students in the CECP program.
She received her BA from the University of Texas and M.Ed. from the University of Houston brings over forty years of experience to Calvary. Ms. Ikeler has worked in the Houston, Alief and Fort Bend school districts, as well as in the private setting at Houston Learning Academy, Fort Bend Baptist Academy and Houston Baptist University.

Ms. Ikeler is a member of American Counselor Association, American School Counselor Association, Texas Counselor Association, Texas School Counselor Association, Fort Bend Counselor Association & Texas Association of College Admissions Counselors. She and her husband, a retired school principal, live in Sugar Land.
Janet Indemaio-CECP Assistant
Janet Indemaio will serve as the Program Assistant and future Academic Mentor for the Calvary Episcopal College Prep Program. She holds a BA in English and Sociology with teacher certification for grades 6-12 in both areas. She has taken graduate courses at the the University of London in English Literature, participated in the New Jersey Writing Project, and trained at the Rice Institute in topics related to teaching Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition. Ms. Indemaio comes to Calvary after 28 years in public education. Most recently, she spent 18 years at Clements High School where she taught English, Sociology, B/W Photography and yearbook. Married for over thirty years, Ms.Indemaio and her husband Tony have two grown sons. They are members of All Saints Episcopal Church and enjoy the Astros, UT football games and visiting family in Long Island and Brooklyn.
Terrie Joiner-5th Grade Math, Sci.
Terrie Joiner is the 5th grade math, science, and spelling teacher. This is her twelfth thirteenth year to teach at Calvary. She has also taught 3rd grade math, science and social studies at Calvary.

Ms. Joiner graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana with a double major in Home Economics in Business and Home Economics Education. It was in Louisiana she began her teaching career at South Beauregard High School where she taught middle and high school home economics for six years. She also served on the team responsible for writing the Louisiana State Minimum Standards for Vocational Education.

She and her husband, Don, moved to Houston in 1982 and she worked for her father in the natural gas measurement business for eight years. After relocating to Houston, she received her elementary certification and taught 4th grade (self contained) at Holy Ghost Catholic School for six years. She has twenty-four years of teaching experience.

They are blessed with two children. Their son, Brian, graduated from Texas A & M in 2007. He is married and living in Richmond. He is the youth minister here at Calvary Episcopal Church and their daughter, Shannon, is a sophomore junior at Texas A & M University.
Rachelle Kanak -M.S. Yearbook and Journalism
Rachelle Kanak joined the Calvary staff this year as the middle school computer teacher, yearbook advisor, and network manager. Ms. Kanak was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Rosenberg, before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Ms. Kanak worked in Houston and later in Austin as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for a Texas pharmacy cooperative of 600 pharmacies before partnering with a colleague to develop an online professional pharmaceutical compounding service and wellness business.

Ms. Kanak sold the business in 2003 to begin teaching full time. Ms. Kanak taught for three years at Faith Lutheran School where she was the yearbook and student council advisor and taught middle school science, history, and computer applications. She worked as a Real Estate agent private tutor with middle and high school students before returning to teaching this year at Calvary.

Ms. Kanak lives in Waterside Estates in Richmond with her family and attends St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas.
Lynn Kidda-Kindergarten
Lynn Kidda joined the staff at CES in 2007 as one of our kindergarten teachers. She is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana where she taught pre-k for eight years before moving to Houston. In HISD, she taught kindergarten for two years at an Environmental Science Magnet school. After moving into this area, Mrs. Kidda taught kindergarten right across the street at Jane Long Elementary for fifteen years. Mrs. Kidda and her husband, Jim are the proud parents of their son, Andrew. They are active members of Calvary Episcopal Church. When not teaching, she enjoys camping, fishing, and family activities.

Mrs. Kidda loves watching the kindergarten students learn and grow during the school year. She is excited and feels so blessed to be a teacher at Calvary.
Robin Krig-Librarian (Lower School)
Robin Krig is the Pre-K through 4th grade librarian here at Calvary. She has been in teaching for 37 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in special education, reading, and library science. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, special education, remedial math and reading, high school remedial reading, and is currently an adjunct at Sam Houston State University.

Mrs. Krig and her husband, Paul have two daughters Candice, who currently works at Shell Oil Company and Kelly, who lives in Newport Beach California and works for a realty company. They have two grandchildren, granddaughter Madeline who is 4 years old and was born with a book in her hands and Braden who is 3 years old and loves action.

Mrs. Krig and her puppets Penelope and Peter are looking forward to a great year in the library at Calvary. The Time Machine will be taking us on a new adventure.
Jerry Krogel-4th Grade Sci, SS, Reading
Jerry Krogel is the fourth grade literature, science and social studies teacher at Calvary. A native Houstonian, Jerry was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital. This is Jerry’s sixth year teaching at Calvary. He has previously served as home room parent, CPTO member and School Board member. Jerry has been associated with the school as a parent for eleven years.

The Krogel family moved back to Texas from southern Germany in 1998 when Jerry retired from the U. S. Army. While in the military, Jerry served as a Standardization Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner in helicopters for 17 years teaching and evaluating. His last assignment was an eighteen month deployment to Bosnia to enforce the Dayton Peace Accord, ending the civil war in the Balkans region.

Mr. Krogel graduated from the University of Houston, Suma Cum Laud, with a B.S. in interdisciplinary studies and a minor in history. He then attended ACT Houston alternative certification program in EC – 4. Jerry has one Crusader, Nate in eighth grade and former Crusader Alex in eleventh grade.
Rebecca Lazarou-CECP Coordinator
Rebecca Lazarou is the Head of Upper School, Calvary’s high school program. She was born outside of Buffalo, NY, but considers Houston, Texas her hometown. Mrs. Lazarou holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Houston as well as a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Math Education with a grade 6-12 teaching certification. Rebecca Lazarou and her husband Jacob are proud parents of two children, one a new Crusader in PK, and reside in Richmond, Texas. This is her fourth year at Calvary, but has served in public education for 7 years in Lamar Consolidated and Alief ISD as math educator and specialist.
Missy McClellan-3rd Grade Language Arts, SS
Missy McClellan is the 3rd grade Language Arts teacher at Calvary. Missy has also been involved with Calvary as a parent since 2001.

Ms. McClellan was born in San Diego, CA. to a career Navy family. She spent most of her adolescent to teenage years in Fulton, NY and moved to West Columbia, TX in 1986.

Ms. McClellan received her BBA degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and took post baccalaureate courses in education at the University of Houston. Ms. McClellan completed her education certification through the Region IV Alternative Certification Program.

In her previous life, Ms. McClellan had been working at KnowledgeBase Marketing for 14 ½ years as a manager in the Processing Services department where she managed project teams as well as developed and implemented employee training programs. The McClellan family are active members of both Calvary Episcopal Church and Calvary Episcopal School, where many of our students will know her as a LOGOS Bible teacher. They are the proud parents of 3 Crusaders: Will - 6th grade, Chris – 4th grade, and Katie – 2nd grade.
P.R. “Mac” McStravick-CECP Teacher, Coach
Coach Mac has come to Calvary after nineteen years of teaching in Katy ISD, and the Lamar C. I.S.D. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1991 with a degree in History Teaching. He is also All-Level certified in Physical Education. He has coached football, basketball, track and soccer in the public school sector. Coach Mac is married to Peggy McStravick, with whom he has three children. His daughter Kaylyn is an eighth grade Crusader who enjoys sports and loves the teachers here at Calvary.
Lisa Mann-Head of Middle School; teaches English, History
Lisa Mann is a native of Richmond and a graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School. She first became interested in teaching during high school and college experiences volunteering in residential services for the developmentally disabled. Ms. Mann graduated from the University of Houston in 1983, and spent eight years working in community relations for Richmond State School. From 1991 to 1999, Ms. Mann was an at-home mom and served in several volunteer positions including the Calvary Episcopal School Board, the Calvary Parent Teacher Organization, and the Richmond State School Volunteer Services Council. Ms. Mann re-entered the workforce as a substitute teacher at Calvary in 1999, and joined the middle school faculty in August 2000. She currently teaches seventh grade language arts, and eighth grade history. She also serves as the Head of Middle School.
Ana Julia Moreno-Holladay-Spanish
Mrs. Holladay is originally from Panama City, Republic of Panama. She attended Colegio María Inmaculada, a Catholic private school from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Afer High School she traveled to USA to attend San Francisco State University, where she graduated with a Business Degree in International Marketing in 1984.

As a professional, she worked for Hewlett Packard Company, in the Latin America Division, based in Palo Alto, California, and Miami, Florida. At HP she held the position of Software Customer Support Manager for HP affiliates in Latin America. Language and technical skills were required, including the ability to converse and understand Spanish, Portuguese and English. Working with HP national distributors and visiting their facilities, allowed for numerous opportunities to become familiar with the business and cultures of several Latin American countries, including Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and others.

After a brief period at home, Mrs.Holladay decided to become a teacher. She attended the University of St. Thomas graduate program in conjunction with Region IV Alternative Certification and completed her training with certification in Bilingual/ESL instruction in addition to Early Childhood. She taught 4th grade for five years in Fort Bend ISD in English with Spanish support when needed. She became certified to teach Secondary Spanish in 1999 and taught high school level Spanish at Garcia Middle School for another five years.

Mrs. Holladay enjoys teaching her native language, Spanish. She is starting her 16th year in education this year. Her children keep her very busy with dance competitions and college functions. She also likes to cook Latin dishes and exercise to the tunes of Merengue and Salsa.
A’Dell Morris-Athletic Director, Middle School Physical Education
A’Dell Morris is our Athletic Director and MS Physical Education teacher. She brings to Calvary 21 years teaching/coaching experience, both in private and public schools. In addition to teaching and coordinating athletic events, she is also our volleyball and girls basketball coach. This is her 3rd year to be part of the Calvary family.

Mrs. Morris is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a minor in Biology. Her husband, Tommy and their two children, Lauren and Chase, who both attend Texas A&M, moved back to Richmond last year from Midland, Texas. Previously, Mrs. Morris lived in Richmond and was a teacher/coach for the Lamar School District in the early 80’s. She has enjoyed returning to old friends and familiar places as well as making Calvary her new home.
Tonia Nelson - 5th Grade
Tonia Nelson is the 5th grade Language Arts/Social Studies teacher at Calvary Episcopal. This is her 2nd year at Calvary but her 12th year teaching. She grew up in Houston and moved away in the 9th grade. Tonia graduated from the University of Houston in 1994 with a Bachelors degree in Education with an emphasis on reading. She also was married in the same year. Tonia and her husband moved back to Houston to start a family in the best city ever. They started their family last year and are proud parents of a now feisty 16 month old. Parenthood is awesome.
Mary Newberry-Middle School History and English
Mary Newberry was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There she attended and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1970. Mary taught in Charleston, Missouri for six years. She and husband John then moved to Houston in 1976 and there they started their family being blessed with daughter Barbara and son Brian. In 1979 Mary taught fifth grade in Alief and then began her long career in the Katy school district. She taught on several levels throughout the last twenty-four years in both elementary and then middle school. Mary retired from public school teaching with 31 years experience. John and Mary have been married for 39 years and continue to make their home in Katy. Mary’s children live in Katy with their spouses and work in Houston. She is very excited to be teaching 7th grade American History and 8th grade Language Arts here at Calvary for the fifth year.
Cindy Palmer-2nd Grade Language Arts
Mrs. Palmer was born and raised in Temple, Texas. She graduated from Mary-Hardin Baylor University in 1974 with a BS in Education. She is certified K-12 and Early Childhood Development. Mrs. Palmer has 25 years teaching experience in the Richmond-Rosenberg area.

Before beginning her teaching career Mrs. Palmer worked for the Texas Department of Health as a training and recruitment officer and Professional Registered Sanitarian inspecting restaurants, schools, daycare facilities and foster care homes.

Mrs. Palmer and her husband, Charles, have been in the Richmond-Rosenberg area for 30 years. They have a grown daughter and four grandchildren. Their son lives and works in San Marcos, Texas while attending Southwest University. The Palmers enjoy the outdoors fishing, Astros games, Houston Rockets, and the Aeros.
Suzanne Rector-MS Math
Mrs. Rector teaches middle school math at CES. She is in her 9th year of teaching after being a stay-at-home mom for 11 years. Mrs. Rector grew up in Louisiana and holds a BS degree in Vocational Education from Louisiana State University. She obtained additional certification in multiple subjects from University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. Mrs. Rector is married to David, and they have 3 teenage children. The Rector family has traveled and/or lived in many places around the world.
Colleen Sanders-Dean of Instruction and Admissions
Colleen Sanders earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Texas and her Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Houston-Main Campus. She just completed her 34th year in public education, all served in Alief ISD.

Ms. Sanders began her teaching career as a K-5 science teacher but later served as a 4th grade teacher, a K-5 GT teacher, and a K-5 Language Arts Specialist before moving into administration. Ms. Sander’s administrative experience includes 3 years as an elementary assistant principal and 6 years as an elementary school principal. For the past 8 years her leadership experience has been working with 29 campuses as assistant superintendent for elementary and intermediate schools in Alief.

Ms. Sanders has a 29 year old son, Brian, who is a sportscaster for KXAN-NBC station in Austin, TX. She currently lives in Sugar Land with her two dogs, Sadie and Callie.
Pam Smalley-Lower School Physical Education
Pam Smalley teaches middle school and elementary Physical Education at Calvary Episcopal School. Her goal is to promote and encourage all students to participate in physical activities for the rest of their lives. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Physical Education and Health. She is currently involved as a cadette Girl Scout leader in Fort Bend County. This is her 6th year teaching at Calvary, and 3rd year to

coach the cheerleaders. Mrs. Smalley has been married 18 years to Dwayne and has two daughters. Autumn graduated from Calvary and now attends Foster High School. She is a member of the Flair dance team. Ryann is an 8th grader here at Calvary. She cheers, plays volleyball, basketball and runs track for the school. The Smalley family enjoys camping, boating, and floating the Guadalupe river.
Ashley Smith – Middle School Science
Ms. Ashley Smith is beginning her third year with the Calvary family. This will be her fourth year of teaching middle school science. Mrs. Smith decided to become a certified teacher as her second career choice. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Smith worked for seven years as a Microbiologist/Medical Technologist. She has a B.S. in Biology/ Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry from Southeastern Louisiana University. She also has a degree in Medical Technology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA and is accredited by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Mrs. Smith lives in Richmond with her husband Joe and her sons Gabriel and Liam. Gabriel is a fourth grader this year at Calvary and Liam is a very active two year old.
Malcolm Smith-Headmaster
Malcolm Smith is the Headmaster of Calvary Episcopal School and College Prep. He is a native Houstonian, graduating from Lamar High School (Houston) and the University of Houston with a BS in Education in 1973. He earned his MEd in Secondary Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1976 and attended Texas A&M University where he received his superintendent’s certification and completed his doctoral coursework in Instructional Leadership. Mr. Smith served thirty years in public school education as an elementary and middle school teacher, elementary and middle school principal in the Katy school district, and Director of Curriculum and Executive Director of Elementary Education in the Lamar school district. This is his ninth year at Calvary.
James Talton - Band, Grades 5-8
James Talton graduated from graduated from Baylor University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. While attending Baylor he participated in the Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Jazz Bands. He graduated from East Texas State University in 1996 with a Master is Music Education.

Mr. Talton has taught at 19 years. His teaching areas have been Marching Band, Concert Band, High School Concert Band, Jr. High Concert Band, Beginner Band, Jr. High String Orchestra, Elementary Recorder Band, and Elementary Music. He has also taught private lessons on Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, and Percussion. His primary instrument of performance is Clarinet.

He has three children: Hannah, Hope, and Jameson who attend Katy ISD schools. Mr. Talton attends St. Peters United Methodist Church in Katy, where he performs with his wife, Melissa, and daughter, Hannah in the St. Peters United Methodist Church Orchestra.
Amanda Thompson – 4th Grade
Amanda Thompson is the 4th grade Math and Language Arts teacher. This is her third year at Calvary, and she has seven years of experience in both public and other private schools. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases in both math and music. Amanda has also been involved with the Calvary family as a Room Parent and substitute teacher. She has a son, Cameron, who is also a Crusader and has been married to her husband Nathan for twelve years. They also have two cats, Katie who is two years old and Tiny who is fourteen. Amanda has a love for music and strives to put as much music and movment as she can in her math and language arts classes.
