Frequently Asked Questions:
Why should I give?
Every dollar you donate to the Annual Giving Campaign benefits the students attending Calvary Episcopal Preparatory. By choosing to give, you are helping keep tuition low so more families are able to send their children to Calvary. Not to mention, foundations look at the total percentage of donor participation before choosing to support a school. Also, keep in mind your gift is tax deductible.
Why must money be raised in addition to tuition?
Tuition income does not cover the cost of educating the students. Our operating expenses exceed tuition by $1,500 per student. In other words, each Crusader receives a $1,500 scholarship courtesy of the Annual Giving Campaign. With your Annual Giving Campaign gifts, we are able to significantly impact the program we offer students and keep the Calvary tradition strong.
If tuition doesn’t cover the cost of educating a child why not raise tuition?
Raising tuition would have two negative impacts. First, the entire cost of educating a child would fall on the parents and such increases would exclude many wonderful families from being able to join the Calvary family. The Annual Giving Campaign allows support from the community, grandparents, and alumni to aide in the gap. Secondly, all gifts to the Annual Giving Campaign are tax deductible, where tuition is not. This allows current families to take some of their tuition costs and write off on taxes.
What does the Annual Giving Campaign fund?
All money raised in the Annual Giving Campaign goes into the operating budget. This means it supports expenses such as the salary of your favorite teacher, the paint brushes in the art room, gym equipment, computers and technology and much, much more.
How much should we give?
It is hoped that parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty, school board, friends and community members will give prayerful and thoughtful consideration to their level of support. Every single gift, regardless of the size, is sincerely appreciated. Calvary gifts have ranged from $10 to $5,000.
